Medical Definition of Amylodextrin

1. End product of hydrolysis of amylopectin by beta-amylase; further hydrolysis requires amylo-1,6-glucosidase, which attacks the branch points. Identified by its colour reaction with iodine (amylodextrin turns blue). Compare: achroodextrin, erythrodextrin. (05 Mar 2000)
