Paper with a high non-specific absorbing power for biological macromolecules.
Very important as a receptor in blot transfer methods. Bands are transferred from a chromatogram or electropherogram either by blotting on nitrocellulose sheets or by electrophoretic transfer. The replica can then be used for sensitive analytical detection methods.
