Medical Definition of Glyoxisome

1. Organelle found in plant cells, containing the enzymes of the glyoxylate cycle. Also contains catalase and enzymes for _ oxidation of fatty acids. Together with the peroxisome makes up the class of organelles known as microbodies. Origin: Gr.
