Medical Definition of Vella's fistula
1. Experimental isolation of a segment of intestine in a dog or other animal; the mesenteric attachment is preserved, the divided intestine at each end of the segment is joined by anastomosis, and the ends of the segment are stitched to openings in the abdominal wall.
