Medical Definition of Veldt disease

1. An acute febrile disease of cattle, sheep, and goats in sub-Saharan Africa and certain islands in the Indian and Atlantic Oceans and in the Caribbean, caused by the rickettsial organism Cowdria ruminantium and transmitted by ticks of the genus Amblyomma; some species of African antelope and European and American deer also are susceptible.
