Medical Definition of Tolbutamide test
1. A test to detect insulin-producing tumours; after a 1-g intravenous dose of tolbutamide, plasma insulin and glucose are measured at intervals up to 3 hr; higher insulin responses and lower glucose values characterise patients with such tumours. (05 Mar 2000)
