Medical Definition of Rhopheocytosis
1. Formation of vacuoles at a cell surface without prior formation of cytoplasmic projections, by which the cell appears to aspirate surrounding material. See: pinocytosis. Origin: G. Rhopheo, to gulp down, or aspirate, + kytos, cell, + -osis, condition (05 Mar 2000)
