Hepatitis and encephalitis following viral upper respiratory tract infection with history of large dose of aspirin, age: children and young adults, obtundation rapidly followed by coma, 15 - 85% mortality (from white matter oedema and demyelination) CT findings: initially (within 2-3 days) small ventricles, later progressive enlargement of lateral ventricles and sulci, markedly diminished attenuation of white matter diagnosis by liver biopsy: fatty infiltration (12 Dec 1998)
