Medical Definition of Replica methods
1.
Methods in the preparation of specimens for transmission electron microscopy. The specimen (for example: a piece of freeze fractured tissue) is shadowed with metal and coated with carbon and then the tissue is digested away. The replica is then picked up on a grid and it is the replica that is examined in the microscope.
