Medical Definition of Rabphilin
1.
Receptor (704 amino acid residues) for the small GTP-binding protein rab3A that is implicated in regulated secretion, particularly of neurotransmitters. The N terminal region interacts with rab3A, the C terminal domain interacts with calcium and phospholipid and rabphilin is found in association with sites of exocytosis in neurites. There are indications that rabphilin may inhibit GAP activated GTPase activity of rab3A.
