Medical Definition of Mitomycins

A group of methylazirinopyrroloindolediones obtained from certain streptomyces strains. They are very toxic antibiotics used as antineoplastic agent in some solid tumours. Porfiromycin and mitomycin c are the most useful members of the group.
Pharmacological action: antibiotics, antineoplastic.
