Medical Definition of Lachman's test
1.
A physical examination technique used to detect injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in the knee. The examiner will have you lay on your back with your knee bent at a 30 degree angle. Holding the end portion of your thigh with one hand and the top of the shin with the other hand, the examiner will apply slow pressure to the back of the of the proximal tibia (just below the knee). Increased looseness in the knee joint is indicative of an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
