1. A drug that has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. Following reports of adverse reactions including reports of carcinogenicity in animal studies it was withdrawn from the market worldwide. Pharmacological action: carcinogens, cyclooxygenase inhibitors. Chemical name: Benzeneacetic acid, 4-(1,3-dihydro-1-oxo-2H-isoindol-2-yl)-alpha-methyl- (12 Dec 1998)
