Medical Definition of Hypobarism

Dysbarism resulting from decreasing barometric pressure on the body without hypoxia; gas in body cavities tends to expand, and gases dissolved in body fluids tend to come out of solution as bubbles.
Compare: decompression sickness.
Synonym: hypobaria.
