1. 17a-Ethynyl-4-estrene-3b, 17b-diol;a semisynthetic orally effective steroid with biological effects that largely resemble those of progesterone; in addition, it is weakly oestrogenic and androgenic; administered in combination with an oestrogen as an oral contraceptive.
