Medical Definition of Dermatophilosis
1. An infectious exudative dermatitis of cattle, sheep, goats, horses, and other animals (occasionally man) caused by Dermatophilus congolensis; severe (sometimes fatal) dermatophilosis is seen in cattle in the Caribbean, invariable in association with Amblyomma variegatum infestations. Synonym: proliferative dermatitis, streptothrichosis, streptotrichiasis, streptotrichosis. (05 Mar 2000)
