Medical Definition of Chloroacetic acid

1. An acetic acid in which one or more of the hydrogen atoms are replaced by chlorine. According to the number of atoms so displaced the acid is called monochloroacetic (chloroacetic; ClCH2COOH), dichloroacetic (Cl2CHCOOH), or trichloroacetic (Cl3CCOOH). Synonym: chloracetic acid. (05 Mar 2000)
