1. A protein kinase encoded by the saccharomyces cerevisiae cdc28 gene and required for progression from the g1 to the s phase in the cell cycle. It is a complex of approximately 160 kD containing a substrate called p40. Registry number: EC 2.7.1.- (12 Dec 1998)
