Medical Definition of Reo virus

1. A genus of viruses (family Reoviridae) that are 75 to 80 nm in diameter, with distinct double layers of capsomeres, and have vertebrates as hosts; a causative relationship to illness has not been proven. They have been recovered from children with mild fever and sometimes diarrhoea, and from children with no apparent infection; from chimpanzees with coryza; monkeys and mice; and cattle faeces.
