Medical Definition of Houssay animal
1. An animal that has been pancreatectomised and hypophysectomised. Named after the discoverer of the principle that animal's are more sensitive to insulin after removal of the pituitary, and that after this operation the intensity of diabetes in depancreatised animal's is diminished. (05 Mar 2000)
