Medical Definition of Dnak gene

1. A gene found in the bacteria Escherichia coli which helps the bacteria survive at high temperatures. It also is important in the replication of the DNA of bacteriophage lambda. It is closely linked with the DNAJ gene. (09 Oct 1997)
