1. An enzyme catalyzing transfer of an acetyl group from N2-acetylornithine to l-glutamate forming l-ornithine and N-acetyl-l-glutamate, an activator of the urea cycle. Synonym: ornithine acetyltransferase. (05 Mar 2000)
