Medical Definition of Phialophora

1. A genus of fungi of which at least two species, Phialophora verrucosa and Phialophora dermatitidis, cause chromoblastomycosis. Origin: G. Phiale, a broad, flat vessel, + phoreo, to carry (05 Mar 2000)
