1. A triangular area in the diaphragm near the lateral arcuate ligament that is devoid of muscle fibres; it is covered by pleura superiorly and by peritoneum inferiorly. Synonym: Bochdalek's gap, trigonum lumbocostale. (05 Mar 2000)
