Medical Definition of Sizofiran

Poly(3-(o-beta-d-glucopyranosyl-(1-3)-o-(beta-d-glucopyranosyl-(1-6))-o-beta-d-glucopyranosyl-(1-3)-o-beta-d-glucopyranosyl)-1). A beta-d-glucan obtained from the aphyllophoral fungus schizophyllum commune. It is used as an immunoadjuvant in the treatment of neoplasms, especially tumours found in the stomach.
Pharmacological action: adjuvants, immunologic, antineoplastic agent, phytogenic.
