Medical Definition of Siderotic nodules

1. Small firm spheroidal or irregular foci that are yellow-brown, brown, or rustlike in colour, occurring chiefly in the spleen in such conditions as congestive splenomegaly and sickle cell disease, and consisting of relatively dense fibrous tissue or collagenous fibres impregnated with iron pigment and calcium salts; probably result from organization and scarring of sites where small perivascular haemorrhages occurred.
