Medical Definition of Sialophorin

1. CD43, (sialophorin) Widely distributed membrane associated mucin, the major sialoglycoprotein of thymocytes and mature T-cells. Transmembrane protein with extensive O linked glycosylation (75-85 oligosaccharides on the 239 residue extracellular domain). Extends at least 45nm beyond plasma membrane.
