Medical Definition of Sea-blue histiocyte syndrome

Rare disorder consisting of splenomegaly, mild purpura secondary to thrombocytopenia, and occasionally, hepatic cirrhosis associated with the appearance of numerous histiocytes in the spleen and bone marrow which stain a sea-blue colour. It is sometimes considered a variant of niemann-pick disease.
