Medical Definition of Saddle joint
1. A biaxial synovial joint in which the double motion is effected by the opposition of two surfaces, each of which is concave in one direction and convex in the other; as in the carpometacarpal joint of the thumb. Synonym: articulatio sellaris, articulatio ovoidalis. (05 Mar 2000)
