Medical Definition of Sacrotuberous ligament

The ligament that passes from the ischial tuberosity to the ilium, sacrum, and coccyx, transforming the scialic notch to a large scialic foramen, which is then further subdivided by the sacrospinous ligament.
Synonym: ligamentum sacrotuberale, ligamentum sacrotuberosum, posterior sacrosciatic ligament.
