Medical Definition of Reticulocytosis

1. An increase in the number of circulating reticulocytes above the normal, which is less than 1% of the total number of red blood cells; it occurs during active blood regeneration (stimulation of red bone marrow) and in certain anaemias, especially congenital haemolytic anaemia.
