Medical Definition of Rest position
1. The usual position of the mandible when the patient is resting comfortably in the upright position and the condyles are in a neutral unstrained position in the glenoid fossae. See: rest relation. Synonym: postural position, postural resting position, rest position. (05 Mar 2000)
