The more dorsal of the two branches into which the inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery bifurcates; supplies uncinate process and head of pancreas, as well as the third and fourth parts of the duodenum; anastomoses with the posterior branch of the superior pancreaticuduodenal artery.
Synonym: ramus posterior arteriae pancreaticoduodenalis inferioris.
