Medical Definition of Pituicytoma

A rare gliogenous neoplasm derived from pituicytes, occurring in the posterior lobe of the pituitary gland and characterised by cells with relatively small, round or oval nuclei and long branching processes that form a complex network of cytoplasmic material, in which numerous small droplets of fat may be demonstrated.
Origin: pituicyte + G. -oma, tumour
