Medical Definition of Pefloxacin

1. An orally administered broad spectrum quinolone antibacterial agent active against most gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. It is effective against urinary tract infections as well as against many other systemic infections. The drug is well tolerated in adults, but should not be given to children and pregnant women. Pharmacological action: anti-infective agents, fluoroquinolone, anti-infective agents, urinary.
