Medical Definition of Pathologic startle syndromes
1. A group of disorders characterised by markedly exaggerated startle reflex and other exaggerated stimulus-induced responses. Includes hyperexplexia and probably latah and the jumping Frenchman of Maine syndrome. (05 Mar 2000)
