1. An ergot derivative that has been used as a cerebral vasodilator and in peripheral vascular disease. It has been suggested to ameliorate cognitive deficits in cerebrovascular disease. Pharmacological action: adrenergic alpha-antagonists, nootropic agents, vasodilator agents.
