Medical Definition of Neurosecretory cell
1. Cells that have properties both of electrical activity, carrying impulses and a secretory function, releasing hormones into the bloodstream. In a sense, they are behaving in the same way as any chemically signalling neuron, except that the target is the blood (and remote tissues), not another nerve or post synaptic region.
