Medical Definition of Musculus sternalis

An inconstant muscle, running parallel to the sternum across the costosternal origin of the pectoralis major, and usually connected with the sternocleidomastoid and rectus abdominis muscles due to their common development source.
Synonym: musculus sternalis, musculus rectus thoracis, sternal muscle.
