Medical Definition of Musculus cephalopharyngeus
1. Origin, medial pterygoid plate (pterygopharyngeal part), pterygomandibular raphe (buccopharyngeal part), mylohyoid line of mandible (mylopharyngeal part), and the mucous membrane of the floor of the mouth and the side of the tongue (glossopharyngeal part); insertion, pharyngeal raphe in the posterior wall of the pharynx; action, narrows pharynx; nerve supply, pharyngeal plexus.
