Medical Definition of Mitral cells
1. Large nerve cell's in the olfactory lobe of the brain whose dendrites synapse (in glomeruli) with axons of the olfactory receptor cell's of the nasal mucous membrane, and whose axons pass centrally in the olfactory tract to the olfactory cortex. (05 Mar 2000)
