1. An ergot derivative that acts as an agonist at dopamine d2 receptors, may also act as an antagonist at dopamine d1 receptors, and as an agonist at some serotonin receptors. It has been used in parkinsonism but it may be hepatotoxic. It is commonly used as a research tool.
Pharmacological action: antiparkinson agents, dopamine agonists, serotonin agonists.
