Medical Definition of Lingual mucosa
1. Mucous membrane of the tongue, the mucosa of the dorsum of the tongue appears velvety due to the presence of vast numbers of papillae; that of the inferior surface is smooth and thinner. Synonym: tunica mucosa linguae. (05 Mar 2000)
