Medical Definition of Leptocytosis

1. The presence of leptocytes in the circulating blood, as in thalassaemia, some instances of jaundice (even in the absence of anaemia), occasional examples of hepatic disease (in the absence of jaundice), and some patients who have had the spleen removed. (05 Mar 2000)
