1. Noun. Painful inflammation of the tendon at the outer border of the elbow resulting from overuse of lower arm muscles (as in twisting of the hand).


Medical Definition of Lateral humeral epicondylitis

1. Inflammation at the lateral epicondyle (bony process of the humerus) of the elbow and the tendons insertions. It has earned the name tennis elbow because of the common occurrence of this condition in tennis players (constant dorsiflexion of the wrist). See: medial epicondylitis. (13 Jan 1998)
