Medical Definition of Laryngotracheal diverticulum

1. A diverticulum from the floor of the caudal end of the pharynx which gives rise to the epithelium and glands of the larynx, trachea, bronchi, and lungs. Once this diverticulum separates from the foregut, it is referred to as a tube. (05 Mar 2000)
