Medical Definition of Killer plasmid

These plasmids are found in some strains of Kluyveromyces marxianus where the cells contain multiple cytoplasmic copies of dsDNA plasmids. Such cells secrete a glycoprotein toxin. The plasmids and the killer function can be transferred to yeast.
