Medical Definition of Keratoepithelioplasty

1. A surgical procedure for the repair of persistent corneal epithelial defects. All the corneal epithelium is removed from the recipient cornea, and small pieces of donor cornea, with epithelium attached, are placed at the corneoscleral limbus. The donor corneal eplithelium grows and spreads out to cover the recipient cornea. Origin: kerato-+ epithelio-+ G. Plastos, formed (05 Mar 2000)
