Pure symmetrical IUGR, low profile IUGR, proportionate reduction of all foetal measurements, aetiology: intrisic alteration in growth potential, severe nutritional deprivation overwhelming protective brain-sparing mechanism occuring prior to 26 weeks and persisting until delivery assymetrical IUGR, late flattening IUGR (75%), disproportionate reduction of foetal measurements due to uteroplacental insufficiency with preferential shunting of blood to foetal brain, high HC (head circumference)/AC (abdominal circumference) and FL (femur length)/AC ratios see also: intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR)
