Medical Definition of Isomaltase
1. A glucanohydrolase cleaving alpha-1,6 links in isomaltose and dextrins produced from starch and glycogen by alpha-amylase; secreted into the duodenum; a deficiency of this enzyme leads to defects in intestinal digestion of limit dextrins.
